Ramada Penticton selects "Ruckus" for their Wireless Solution

The Ramada Inn & Suites Penticton has awarded Okanagan Telephone Company Ltd. the contract to upgrade their guest wireless infrastructure.
As Penticton's premier hotel for the business traveller the Ramada Penticton realized the importance of a "quality guest experience" when it came to Wireless Internet Access.
This has been accomplished with the installation of a state of the art "Ruckus" high speed wireless system. The system is comprised of a network of more than 25 Ruckus access points utilizing "smart array" antenna technology. Backbone communication to these devices is done via a Gigabit Ethernet Optical Fiber backbone encompassing the property. The actual Internet bandwidth is being provided by Shaw Communications via 3- 100 Megabit circuits that are load balanced and then delivered to the Ruckus controller.
The system has been designed with ability for all 125 rooms to simultaneously be accessing the Internet and downloading content like HD Netflix without any noticable service degradation!
Installation of the project began mid December and final implementation and testing was completed at the end of January.
Ruckus is recognized for development of their "Beam Forming Technology". In laymans terms this allows software to control muliple antenna arrays in the access points allowing a demanding user more throughput via a "focused antenna array". In other words if for example there is one access point providing service to 8 rooms but only one guest is accessing the Internet, the Ruckus technology will allow that user to have more bandwidth and therefore a faster connection.
Okanagan Telephone Company has been a provided of Hospitality communications for the last 25 years. Wireless access was a natural addition to the Hotel Telephone Systems, Call Accounting Solutions and Property Management Software.
Congratulations to the management and staff at the Ramada Penticton!
